Langley Travel Insurance FAQ

Do I Need Travel Insurance?
While travel insurance isn’t required, it’s always the best choice. Travel is inherently risky, and insurance can safeguard you from financial losses that occur while traveling. If you have to cancel your trip for any covered reason, you’ll get reimbursed for pre-paid trip costs. Depending on your plan, travel insurance gives you a wide variety of protection that can take the stress out of unfortunate events that sometimes happen during trips.

Non-refundable costs include pre-paid trip deposits and payments that would be lost if you had to cancel for a covered reason before your trip departure. Some examples include vacation rental costs, campground fees, rental car fees, tickets for tours and events, and hotel and airline ticket costs.

Coverage varies from one policy to the next. However, the most popular travel protection benefits include:

  • Trip Cancellation
  • Trip Interruption
  • Emergency Medical
  • Transportation
  • Emergency Medical/Dental
  • Lost/Stolen/Delayed Baggage
  • Travel Delay
  • Change Fee Coverage
  • Rental Car Protection
Your travel insurance plan covers only those named insured on your plan. Family members and/or travel companions are not covered unless they are specifically named in your plan documents. For some plans, children 17 and under are automatically covered. Talk to your insurance broker to discuss coverage.
Most travel protection plans do not cover pets. However, service animals may be covered as “family members.” Talk to your broker to determine if your coverage applies to licensed service animals.
